In essence, faith is redefined from “a trust in a holy and sovereign God despite our circumstances” to “a way of controlling God to give us what we want.” Faith becomes a force whereby we can get what we want rather than an abiding trust in God even during times of trials and suffering. However, instead of us creating our reality with our thoughts, as new age proponents advise, name it and claim it teachers tell us that we can use the “power of faith” to create our own reality or get what we want. The roots of the Word of Faith movement and the name it and claim it message have more in common with new age metaphysics than with biblical Christianity. At its best, this teaching comes from the misinterpretation and misunderstanding of some Scriptures, and, at its worst, it is a completely heretical teaching that has the characteristics of CULTIC DOCTRINE. While there are many different versions of the name it and claim it philosophy preached today, they all have similar characteristics. Before even going through the weekend, you have to complete their thin One 2 One book which cost P100. They justify that it is for the thin booklets, use of venue, and packed lunch. I was also skeptical that Victory Christian Fellowship charges P750 for their so called Victory weekend just to get “baptized”. The love for money more than relationship is the root of all evil? It’s bad to make a separate account from your spouse that 80-percent of failed marriages are caused by financial problems adding from a 1995 SSS study which revealed that at age 65, 45-percent of Filipino senior citizens are dependent on their relatives, 30-percent on charity, 23-percent are still working, and only 2-percent are financially independent.I used to attend Victory Christian Fellowship until I became informed on the lies of false pastors preaching prosperity Gospel which VCF practice at the start of service sharing verses about promise of prosperity in giving and passing out charity boxes. In his other book For Richer & For Poorer, Chinkee reprises one of the few mantras of success: next to God, love your spouse and your family in words and in deed. It is in giving that one far more amply receives in return a cornucopia of graces from God.
